Blue Christmas Service

"We know full well that the work begun in the manger is not yet complete. Christmas is, for the time being, a feast of light juxtaposed with darkness. We brighten our sanctuary with candles, but the night persists beyond these walls. Though we wipe our tears away to join in yuletide celebration, we are still a people who mourn." Katherine E. Willis Perchey in "A Feast Juxtaposed"

The holidays can be difficult times for anyone who has suffered loss or wounding. This year Nelson Covenant Church is offering a "Blue Christmas" service to recognize that reality. A service of comfort, it is a way we can recognize the depth of the season and face the difficult emotions that emerge during the holidays with vulnerability and courage.

This candlelight service will offer participants a space to reflect, pray, sing, grieve, remember, and celebrate wholeheartedly as we seek God's healing presence together.

The service will be held at 7:00pm on Sunday, December 16th.  All are welcome.
